..............................................................................Close embrace

These notes summarise some close embrace workshops given in Cambridge in Autumn 2004 by Jur & Jonne from Amsterdam.

We began by playing with some staccato moves back and forth along LOD:

    Leader steps forward along LOD on his left foot but bounces back on first contact with floor to reverse the step and

lead follower into a forward cross step on his right;

pivot (Leader and Follower) 90 to face across LOD and take open step to side but bounce back back on first contact with floor to reverse the step and

pivot follower back into a forward cross step and

pivot (Leader and Follower) back to original position

repeat ...

and more:

Then, in an open practice hold, we played with alternate giro-style moves around one another:

We then practised lane discipline, keping to one or other track on the floor

We then developed the boleo in close embrace:

    Lead back ocho and, at a certain moment, leader rotates his body to create the boleo effect.

We then combined the sacada and boleo in close embrace:

    Enter cross system

Pivot (Leader and Follower) 90 and Leader steps to side to displace follower's trailing leg in the sacada

Leader rotates his body to create the boleo effect.
