..............................................................................Medium
Level Tango
These notes summarise a
tango course given in five parts by
Rodolfo Aguerrodi & Miho Omaki in
Cambridge in 2004. The course was aimed
at people with 18+ months experience.

Lesson 3
continued with contramovements:
| |
Leading
a forward step on leader's right:
| |
As follower's hips pass
leader's hips, leader
sacadas her trailing leg with one or
other of his legs,
continuing
in line (not round follower) with a firm
embrace
follower
pivots into the other half of the forward
ocho and the couple walk out alongside
one another
We did a
forward ocho exercise in which leader's
outstretched arms contain the follower in
the forward ocho:
| |
We then
worked off a backward step:
| |
Lead a follower's back
step to leader's right; Bring
follower into pivot for other half of
back ocho;
With
a firm embrace Leader steps 90 around
follower to create a boleo and close the
embrace
walk
out side by side
| |
and off
a giro to leader's left:
| |
on follower's back step,
swivel hips as if for a full side gancho; as
follower's hips pass, move leg and weight
sideways around follower to sacada
follower's forward leg into a boleo;
turn
follower again into a side step that is
blocked by leader's outstretched leg.
| Rodolfo emphasised the
importance of good posture and movement
in all these contramovements. |
