..............................................................................Milonga

These notes summarise two milonga workshops given by Rodolfo Aguerrodi & Miho Omaki in Cambridge in December 2004.

Workshop A began with some rhythm exercises:

Walking individually in milonga style:

    Walk L; Tap R;

Walk L; Tap R;

Walk L; Tap R;

etc

and a variation:

    Walk L; Tap R; Tap R; Tap R;

Walk L; Tap R; Tap R; Tap R;

etc.

We then mixed these randomly on demand from Miho:

We then introduced a bounce step to side:

    Bounce off L; collect;

Bounce off L; collect;

etc.

and on the other side:

    Bounce off R; collect;

Bounce off R; collect;

etc.

We then added a forward step to the bounce:

    Bounce off L; collect; Walk on R;

Bounce off L; collect; Walk on R;

etc.

and on the other side:

    Bounce off R; collect; Walk on L;

Bounce off R; collect; Walk on L;

etc.

We then changed the sequence to forward, then side:

    Walk on L; Bounce off R; collect;

Walk on L; Bounce off R; collect;

etc.

and on the other side:

    Walk on R; Bounce off L; collect;

Walk on R; Bounce off L; collect;

etc.

We then combined these steps walking offset on follower's right:

    Bounce off L; Walk forward on Left;

Bounce off R; Walk forward on Right;

etc

We then did an individual exercise:

    Bounce off L; L steps over R;

Bounce off R; R steps over L;

etc.

and in couples:

    Bounce off L; L steps over R;

Bounce off R; R steps over L;

etc.

sometimes repeating the move:

    Bounce off L; L steps over R; R steps over L; L steps over R;

Bounce off R; R steps over L; L steps over R; R steps over L;

etc.

and finally we did the move in half-time, time, and contratime:
