..............................................................Salon Tango

These notes summarise two salon tango workshops given by Rodolfo Aguerrodi & Miho Omaki in Cambridge in 2004.

Round Church in Cambridge

Workshop B began with a gentle gancho:

    Walking close offset, Follower on his right;

At a certain moment, Leader's right leg is forward and Follower's left leg is back;

Leader turns his chest as he collects, keeping his weight on his right leg, turning his Follower into a side step across him and onto her right leg;

Leader turns his chest further, keeping his weight on his right leg, bringing his Follower into a forward step ...

... during which he finds her right ankle with his left foot, hooking it over her ankle, and reversing the turn for a gancho.

Thne we did some work on posture:

Then a move from Follower's crusada:

    Leader takes Follower to the crusada with her left foot crossed weightless in front of her right leg;

Leader places his right foot alongside Follower's left foot;

Leader shows intention to come back, releasing her left foot then leads a giro to his right accompanying her left foot with his right foot as it lifts over her right foot;

The couple is then free to move forward (Leader) and back (Follower) in parallel.

Then some more foot play:

    Couple walk in offset parallel;

At a certain moment, Leader touches his lead foot alongside (either side) his Follower's trailing foot;

On the next step his foot accompanies hers, turning his chest, as she steps backward so that her foot crosses in front of her other leg, she changes weigth and continues the backward step on her other leg.

Finally we walked offset, with a decoration:

    Leader touches his left foot forward then crosses back in front of his right leg before steppign forward again;

Leader touches his right foot forward then crosses back in front of his left leg before stepping forward again;

...
